As an active member of the LGBTQ community, I along with my wife Diane Cassidy, had dreamed of a local gay bar that would offer the LGBTQ community and its allies a comfortable setting where we could meet for dinner or drinks, maybe play some pool, enjoy a patio or catch a show. From this dream, OUT Lounge & Eatery was conceived and we opened our doors for business on September 24th, 2011. OUT is Durham Region’s only gay bar and gay-positive venue to eat, meet and play.
OUT is over 3700 square feet and made up of three areas; bar, dining area and lounge. The unique set up allows us to meet a variety of needs. We offer lunch, dinner all week and all day breakfast. Our dining area converts to a nightclub after 9PM on Friday and Saturday. We also have a beautiful lounge with leather couches, additional seating and a pool table. For those who are just dropping in for a drink, the bar area and heated patio hold over 100 people.
OUT Lounge & Eatery is perfect for a quiet dinner, night out, meetings, conferences, private parties, weddings or any social event you can think of. We even have a stage for live performances. OUT is conveniently located at Stevenson and King, just north of the 401 and has free parking for over 150 cars.
OUT has been newly renovated and we have created an exciting, delicious menu. We are socially and environmentally conscious and as such we purchase our vegetables from a supplier that harvest within 100 miles, we use organic Fair Trade coffee and we raise money for local charities such as AIDS Committee Durham Region, PFLAG, Pride Durham, PrideLine and My Sister’s Voice.
We have lots of wonderful events planned for the upcoming months at OUT. We would also appreciate the opportunity to host your next staff or social event.
